Sarah Vickers Morgan

Riding Coach • Equestrian Professional • Rider & Horse Development

Bay Area, California

Sarah Vickers Morgan is a lifelong equestrian professional with more than 30 years of experience in the hunter/jumper industry. Since beginning her professional career in 1997, Sarah has built her work around a simple philosophy: developing confident, capable riders while creating a strong and thoughtful partnership between horse and rider.

With a B.S. in Equine Business Management & Riding from Johnson & Wales University, Sarah brings a combination of professional riding experience, formal equestrian education, business knowledge, and extensive hands-on experience in training, coaching, horse care, and competition.

Sarah specializes in rider development and progressive horsemanship, helping riders build a strong foundation and advance thoughtfully through the sport. Her students may begin on school horses and progress through leasing, horse ownership, and competitive showing. She works with each rider according to their individual goals, experience, confidence, and learning style, emphasizing correct and effective riding, horsemanship, safety, and communication with the horse.

Windy Hill Equestrians

Sarah currently works as a Riding Coach and Equestrian Professional at Windy Hill Equestrians in Los Altos, where she coaches riders of varying ages and experience levels in a private, supportive training environment.

She particularly values creating a positive pathway for riders to progress within the sport—from developing foundational skills and confidence to taking on more advanced riding, leasing, horse ownership, and competition. Her approach combines technical instruction with an understanding of the whole horse and the importance of developing knowledgeable, responsible equestrians.

Training & Professional Experience

Through her own business, Vickers Equestrian, and years working alongside established Bay Area professionals, Sarah has developed extensive experience in rider instruction, horse training, client relationships, lesson programs, horse care, show preparation, and equestrian operations.

Her professional experience has taken her to Wellington, Florida, where she gained experience with an import sales barn and worked with 5 Event rider Marcia Kulak*, as well as traveling domestically, and internationally to match students and horses. These experiences broadened her understanding of horse sales, conditioning, training, care, and professional barn management.

Sarah has worked with riders ranging from beginners to experienced competitive riders and enjoys helping each person find the right balance of challenge, confidence, and progression.

Competition

Sarah's professional competition experience spans more than three decades and includes:

  • Baby Green through Regular Working Hunters

  • Rated Hunter divisions

  • Equitation and Medal Finals

  • Jumpers through 1.30m

  • Special classes

  • Junior competition through 3'6"

  • West Coast rated competition

Her competition background gives her a practical understanding of the preparation required for both horse and rider, from daily training and conditioning through show preparation and performance.

Philosophy

Sarah believes that good riding is built on strong fundamentals, clear communication, thoughtful horsemanship, and a genuine understanding of the horse.

Her goal is not simply to teach riders how to get around a course, but to help them become confident, educated equestrians who understand why they are doing what they are doing. She takes pride in developing riders who can think independently, make good decisions, care for their horses responsibly, and continue progressing throughout their riding careers.

Whether a rider is taking their first lessons, preparing for competition, considering a lease, or moving toward horse ownership, Sarah brings a patient, knowledgeable, and individualized approach to the process.

Sarah is passionate about developing both horses and riders and creating a positive, sustainable pathway for people to grow within the sport.
